Special Saturday Lecture: Mourning Fashions in Victorian America with Jenna Fawn Brown

November 7 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Who remembers Jenna Fawn Brown’s fun and fascinating lecture on bridal fashions through the ages back in July?

Good news! If you missed that one, you have another chance to join us for a fascinating journey into fashion history! And if you were there, you know you’re in for another engaging afternoon.

Join us Saturday, November 7, at 3 p.m. at the North House Museum for “Mourning Fashions in Victorian America,” a special lecture with Jenna Fawn Brown, Costume Shop Manager and Resident Costume Designer at Greenbrier Valley Theatre.

From the joy and celebration of bridal fashions to the somber traditions of mourning, Jenna offers us another fascinating look at the ways clothing reflects some of life’s most significant moments. This time, we’ll explore the customs and fashions surrounding loss and remembrance in Victorian America.

And there’s one more reason to visit! November 7 is also the final day to view our seasonal exhibit, “The Good Death: Mourning Culture in Victorian America.”

So make an afternoon of it! Come explore the exhibit before it’s gone, then stay for what’s sure to be another wonderful foray into fashion history. We’d love to see you at the North House!

Admission to the lecture is FREE!
