Our Stories: First Friday Lecture Series – The Lawn: A History & a Look Forward – Jess Levine

🌿 First Friday Lecture Series 🌿

Join us as we welcome Jess Levine, an environmental installation artist whose work brings together art, ecology, and community. Through immersive, interactive installations inspired by regional science and Indigenous wisdom, Jess invites people to connect more deeply with nature, one another, and the landscapes we share. Her collaborative projects celebrate biodiversity, sustainability, and the idea that healthy communities and healthy ecosystems grow together.

In her presentation, The Lawn: A History and a Look Forward, Jess explores the surprising history of one of America’s most familiar landscapes and asks an intriguing question: What if our lawns could do more? Discover how reimagining these everyday spaces can support biodiversity, strengthen our communities, and inspire a more sustainable future.

Whether you’re a gardener, nature enthusiast, history lover, or simply curious about the world just outside your door, this thought-provoking lecture will leave you seeing the humble lawn in a whole new light.
